Cocomo styles your favorite Bravo stars.
We sat down with the tastemakers dressing some of Bravo's biggest personalities.
Is your jaw still on the floor over Katie Ginella's confessional looks from her debut season of The Real Housewives of Orange County? Or was Madison LeCroy's breathtaking golden reunion dress from the 9th season of Southern Charm on your New Years moodboard? Let us introduce you to the dynamic Brooklyn-based couple behind so many incredible looks seen on Bravo stars in recent years.
Coulson Bingham and Modesto Abreu of COCOMO STYLING COLLECTIVE have dressed the likes of Dolores Catania, Jessel Taank, Lindsey Hubbard, Jennifer Pedranti, Brynn Whitfield, Rachel Fuda, Dorinda Medley, Madison LeCroy, Katie Ginella and Alexia Nepola. And to think this styling powerhouse was born out of a coworker-turned-lover-turned-collaborator arc.1
“We met working together in retail in 2022 right after Coulson moved to New York. Modesto saw me and tracked me down by asking colleagues about me. Little did he know that I had already been looking him up after seeing his photo on the retailer’s website the week before I moved. After a few months of flirting, we decided to give dating a try. We moved in together and realized that we had very complimentary skillsets to partner together as a team. Shortly after, we met our first celebrity client because of an outside connection and offered to style her. This was a huge success and the networking helped everything take off from there!”
Can you talk about your styling process. Is the client involved at all? How do you guys land on specific styles and brands for each unique client?
“Every client requires specific needs and we have to be able to adjust on the fly. Whether building a closet, repurposing, or styling and shopping for special events, we know that we have to be able to pivot and adjust.
Throughout the years, we have been able to hone our specific brand and we view our styling through that lens. We both grew up playing with Barbies and dolls and we love making our clients feel like the divas they are while still staying true to their aesthetic. From southern Barbie to Bratz doll, we focus on the shape, tailoring and fabrications of every garment to make sure it is perfectly matched to a client's body to showcase them in the best possible way.”
What are your all-time 5 favorite looks you´ve styled?
“So hard to pick 5! Katie Ginella has two of our favorite looks, first her WWHL was a sexy Alex Perry moment, next her Pink Versace confessional moment was incredible. Madison has our next two. Her Proenza Reunion look which we customized and Andy said was a top look of all time! Next was her Bravo Con look, it was a full Area moment and Dorit stopped her and said it was incredible! Lastly, Brynn Whitfield's Erdem dress she wore for a charity event she hosted. The look was such a princess moment for her!”
Styling aside, in the words of Dolores Catania "It's housewives hunters, it's no more Traitors.” The uncertainty of being a Traitors player was not on anyone's mind before Dorinda flew off to Scotland with bags filled with labels like Vivienne Westwood, Prada and Burberry. Coulson and Modesto were contacted 3 months before filming but her Traitors run was (sadly) short lived. We are mourning all the looks we could have gotten. With that said, let's root for more Dolores outfits and get into the process of styling for The Traitors.
“We were first approached about styling The Traitors for Dorinda Medley three months before filming and we jumped at the opportunity! As huge fans of The Traitors, we were so excited to dive into the world of that show and play with the motifs and themes that make the traitors so successful!
We were provided a mood board and the details from the production creative team and took off. We knew that we needed to have cohesive looks for each event (entrance, breakfast, special events, round table) and we needed to have a total of 15-20 looks that could flex into whatever scenario they were needed for. After outlining what we need to accomplish, we got to work in Dorinda’s closet. If you know Dorinda, you know her style and pieces are next level, so it was extremely exciting to explore her incredible closet and craft the looks. We sourced and shopped for pieces that we needed to fill the gaps, but ultimately wanted to showcase the curated collection that Dorinda already had so beautifully put together. Once we had selected all the looks, accessories, and shoes, we compiled everything into a cohesive PDF overview and packed every look together for easy sorting Scotland.
With Dolores, it was completely different. We received the call asking to style her 7 days before she was flying to Scotland. With this tight timeline, we called in favors, shopped online, and ran around the city to get over 120 items to her home for a large fitting within 4 days. Once we met with her in person, we had an arsenal of options and started putting the puzzle together with what she already had in her closet. Dolores was such a joy to spend the day with playing dress up and creating a vision completely curated to her but with the same Scottish inspiration. After 8 hours, we had all the looks sorted and packed and gave her the PDF to make sure everything was sorted and easy to think about overseas.”
Let me start the petition right here, we NEED to bring back fashion television right this second. The amount of money I'd pay to see Coulson and Modesto run around the city with a 7 day countdown working their magic in true Rachel Zoe style. I need Andy and a camera.
Are there any other Bravo stars you guys would love to style in the future?
“We are always open to new opportunities and love our Bravo girlies. We would love to style Dorit Kemsley because her vision and knowledge of archival fashion is unmatched. Her fashion forward street vibe has inspired us for years. We also would love to start working in the Film industry and eventually style an entire show or movie!”
